Rehberi Taleem Perks!

Boom Boom Rehberi-Taleem j&k !!
Thus the long pending demands of Rehberi-Taleem teachers were granted. This faction of teachers fought their battle singularly under their own banner. They had clear agenda of demands and they achieved the target. Thanks to their untiring efforts they could taste the sweetness of their eyebrow sweat .This under-dog organization pioneered their way to success and it paid. Many a time the umbrella organization of J&K employees dubbed this infant organization as being too fragile to last. The umbrella organization(as the JCC flatters itself being it)crowed too much to get the retirement age enhanced ,and deems itself being more effective. What about the service benefits of five years of ReT’s, and the transfer policy benefits in their favour? Isn’t it the land mark achievement which this organization accomplished?
I don’t know how many will buy my story if I paint it with the moral –“Everything comes to the man who remains steadfast and exercise patience”. The history always provides some breathing place to some myths. It is said that in the aftermath of The World War Second near about fifty colonies got political emancipation. These colonies also include India. The steadfastness and patience of the Muslim Colonies of erstwhile USSSR was also ultimately crowned. Thanks to the Modi Sarkar Compaigning, The existence of the hung assembly of J&K was shaken to its spine levels. The government has perceived the giant of defeat looming his shadows over their beds and giving them nightmares. Perceiving the future that in case of loss they will find themselves in streets, the NC led regime has started stitching their cuts and wounds. In order to save their chair they are now ready to do anything and see the stake-holders in good humor. The ReT’s also knew the formula of their success; so they made hay as soon as they perceived the dawn. What a bliss it is to raise the tone of your voice on the ruins of the falling kingdom. From these ruins many villages picked the thread to be transformed into Tehsils and Block headquarters. This is the way our polity behaves.
Coming back to the perks given to the ReT teachers .These teachers have every reason to be in high spirits. They have right from their inception enjoyed the ride..At the time of their selection they had to face very little competition. The competition within the village is a cake walk journey. A little hard work can bring you to the merit. What an easy way to reserve a berth in the congested train of employees. In contrast to this, the selection process of SSRB is very tough and tardy. The aspirants know not where they exist in the merit list .The written test calls for tremendous hard work, and the interview process calls for your rare personality aptitudes. And out of average twenty thousand aspirants for district level selection only three or four hundred aspirants get the berth. These candidates may also include a microscopic minority of ReT’s. Now the point that warrants attention is that the ReT’s who prove their mettle in SSRB appointments leave their services as ReT midway, and join the elite group of teachers. These ReT’s need perks for they show their real worth. But the malady with present decree is that they are made to face the burns. Their ReT batch mates who don’t dare to be in competition are now made seniors to them who get inducted as general line teachers. Supposing out of 2500 ReT’s appointed in 2000 A.D. the top 75 made it to the SSRB list of 2003 A.D. Since they had worked for three years as ReT’s, but without service book records,These teachers got their date of first appointment as 12/5/2003(in case of District Baramulla), and the ReT’s who failed to compete in district competition continue to have their date of first appointment as 1/8/2000. As per the new decree the less competitive ReT’s will maintain the seniority over the competitive ones by keeping more than five thousand entries..
What an eye opener it is for the stake holders whose cries go unheard in the higher corridors. the scapegoat treatment meted out to the SSRB appointees needs active resistance, for their chocked voice has a reason to soar into the horizons of the higher corridors.
It is equally painful to see the leaders of teachers forum lobbying with every Paul and Harry. These leaders don’t care if their fellow teachers are denied their rights. They are, instead, busy taking advantage of every government decision.Who should now these general line teachers bank their expectations in. What option is now left with the SSRB appointees of 2003, 2007, 2009, and 2012.Should they think of carving their own forum to press for their rights?
The leaders who shares stages with ministers should revisit their strategies .They should assess their credibility through the prism of  these SSRB appointees lest they should mourn their double standard once the the arm of the watch has a twist. The way NC-Congress regime give away the alms on the the ruins of their falling kingdom, will do no good to the Hatim of the day. Same can be the fate of the blue-eyed trade union also. Democracy has its own ways. Yesterday kings are today ineligible for even choosing the leader of the opposition in Indian Union. Thus the stake holders need to ponder upon the pros and cons of the ridiculous decision making machinery. Lets hope there is a way out.

American Civility

February,2013
An average American is as
good an ambassider of the U.S.A. as a vetern leader of the 3rd world. The narrater, today had a table talk with a teen-ager( David )of the U.S.A. It was worth observing a scene to see him presenting American view point in a way that suits best to the nationals of that country.
In one breath he made us understand where ,in the past,Muslim Brothern erred and painted Americans as their enemy. He spelled out to what deal Muslim World is obiliged to America. Though a great patriot, he prided to call his motherland as imperial power which politely colonises the globe by holding the bridle of technology.
Every American love poltics.Everybody there knows what the country means to them. Every American national lives to serve America and the mankind.
This mental culture makes America stand singular at the zenth.
The American guest was ,however, impressed with our hospitality, and wished us to be benifactors to the humanity.

Behrampora History

Behrampora Raffiabad
                                                                                      By:Tariq Ahmad Malik

The  model village Behrampora is also known as “the Gate Way Of Raffiabad”. The village is situated to the North-West of  “Apple Town Sopore” at the distance of eight kilometers. Its co-ordinates are 34*,19’,43” N ,and 74* ,23’,57”E. The village is inhabited (in 2012) by more than six thousand people. The village is spread on one and a half square kilometer area. The village has nine mohallas under two panchayat halqas.- Behrampora  “A” ,and Behrampora  “ B”.The village has 257 acres of common land.

Behrampora, as legend has it, was founded by a Muslim Saint Behram Sahab in the second half of the Sixteenth  Century. This saint was the contemporarian of the world famous Kashmiri saint Hazrat Makhdoom Sahab(1456-1509). Behram Sahab was destined with a long life, and enjoyed the privilege to be the witness to the era\when Kashmir had the pride of having its own rulers. Behram Sahab lived to see the ruler of Muhammad Shah( 1493_1528), and Nazuk shah(1529-30).He, however missed the rule of Yousf Shah (the last ruler of Kashmir) very marginally. As history has it , Yousf Shah ruled Kashmir up till 1586 A.D. before falling to the conspiracy of Mughals. Since then Kashmir could never find its self rulers.

Behram Sahab lived a very simple life. He had least inclination towards worldly pleasures. He lived on the Northern bank of the Pohru Nallah. He was, however, very avid of mulberry fruit. For the entire fruit season the saint would take himself ferry to the southern bank of the Nallah where a 257 acre mulberry orchard would stretch bits hem to welcome the pious saint .As legend has it, the saint had erected a thatched hut amid the mulberry orchard on a table shaped piece of land. This hut would act as his abode during the rough course of the weather. During his stay in the hut people would come to seek blessing from him. There would always be a good rush of devotees. Many devotees became his permanent disciples and erected their huts around the hut of Behram Sahab. Soon a habitation was formed . The kashmiri term for habitation is ‘Pur’. Thus the habitation came to be known as Behrampur in 1550’s A.D. The saint did ,however, choose Yunsoo (an habitation on northern side of Nallah Pohru) as his final resting place where his grave is still an inspiration for the local community. The place where Behram Sahab is believed to have erected his thatched hut is now a permanent grave yard in Ganie Mohalla In front of the mosque.
Behrampora  has now lost its much hyped common land to the developmental programmes. There are dozens of school building on it.There are many  play fields, a hospital building, an animal husbandry building, a Community Hall, and two panchayat Ghars  erected on the chest of the erstwhile mulberry orchard. One can see now only ten to twenty mulberry trees hither and thither around these structures . this stands testimony that the mulberry orchard of 1800 canals was the pride of the village up till 1991 A.D.
The village  presents a nice scenery .It has mettalic roads running in its interiors . The structures on either side of the road lends it a look of a developed market site. The village has now a good count of public buildings. There is a Government Higher Secondary school, a private high school, three middle schools and a religious madrassa. Thus the children have an easy access to schools. The villagers live in perfect harmony. The village has its own Village Welfare Committee which  keeps the menaces in check and undertake developmental initiatives..The village Auqaaf Committee looks after the village institutions like those of shrines, Eidgah, mosques and grave yards.

The sons of this proud village are very enterprising .The transition from traditional agriculture to the modern techniques is quite visible in Behrampora. One can find villagers ploughing their farm land with tractors, spraying their orchards with diesel motors and ferrying their agricultural produce in load carriers. The village has many poultry farms which supply the poultry to the different markets of the area. The milk production of the village is tremendous. The retailers sell in totality more than two thousand liters of milk and four hundred liters of curd every day.

The village has nearly fifty contractors to carry on the works of JKPCC, R&B,and PWD departments. They are always seen building metallic roads, hospital and school buildings, drainage systems and link roads of the village. They are well equipped with bulldozers, load carriers and mixers.

The transport sector of Behrampora deserves a special mention .One can see the passenger vehicles of Behrampora plying on every road of Raffi Abad. But for the transport of Behrampora the upper reaches of Raffi Abad would have been craving to see the road connectivity even in this twenty first century. During the first half of the twentieth century ,Behrampora was very famous for its artisans. The village was virtually a colony of gold smiths though 95% of the artisans have had a transition from the craft, yet the remaining 5% have consolidated their position in the field. Now the gold smiths of this vi8llage are having monopoly in almost all the markets of Raffi Abad. One can find the jewellery of this village stalled in Sopore,Watertgam,Dangiwatcha,Behrampora,Kralgund and Seelu. The trustworthiness of these jewelers is the matter of great pride for the village.

The village fruit growers have had many strides in their field. A good percentage of them have excelled in the field, and have installed shops n Fruit Mandi Sopore. They have proven themselves into trustworthy and potential buyers of apple fruit. The hawkeras of Behrampora lend the village the early excitement. Rising with the skylark these early birds are seen loading their horse-carts  with kitchen-wares, vegetables, fruits, and junk and exposing the nearby habitations to the music of horse hoops .They return to their storages by twilight and add charm to the crowded hours of the village .The topography of Behramp[ora is matchless. Surrounded by apple orchards on either side,  the village presents a glorious look .In the west of the village, there is a beautiful Sports Stadium overlooked by two huge water tanks. There is a much decorated eidgah and the shrine of Dedmoj Sahiba adjacent to the Sports Stadium. One can see the bright face of Govt Higherr Secondary School Behrampora glowing across the fence of the stadium. In the east of the village there is a New Type Primary Health Centre building promising the visitors with sound health. The northern side of the village is an expanse of greenery where a dozen teams of children enjoy playing different games. The village has also a beautiful sports field in its south. Thus this village of landscapes have every merriment to offer to the villagers.

There is a lot more to speak of about this beautiful village-Stories of  landmarks of educated youth, stories of the competition in education, stories of the outlook of the new generation ,and the like .This writer has simply initiated to unravel these stories so that the budding writers may pick up the thread and glorify this village with their write-ups.

So, dear readers, let’s work together to help our village grow on modern lines. Lets keep honing our internal pull and make ourselves the more responsible sons of this proud village---   Long live Behrampora.

Let him sing to her hearts' fill,

and dance with whirls of the wind,
let she ride the butterfly back,
and whisper her sweet secrets to me.
