Message Writing


                                        Message writing
Class : 9th
 English
Teacher: Tariq Ahmad Malik

Messages carry information in a brief and condensed manner. Most of the items are incomplete sentence. Only words that are essential to convey the meaning are used.
 Important points.
·         Avoid writing complete sentences
·         Avoid using “I” unless essential
·         Use short verb phrase where possible.
·         Quit articles and other determiners 
     Format of the message
·         Omit address.
·         Write the time, day and date on the top.
·         Use brief salutation (Dear-Mr-).
·         Emphasize important parts by using capitals and underlining.
·         Complete sentences are not necessary.
·         Give detail of information (if required).
·         Do mention from whom and when the message was received.
·         Do not include any additional information.
·         End with your name.

Specimen Messages
Q1. On behalf of the principal of your school, you, as school secretary are asked to draft a message from the notepad of the principal which has following content.

a). Growing tendency of bringing mobile phones secretly by the students.
b). Sending SMS, missed calls and even taking photos of the classmates.
c). Indiscipline created.
d). All class representatives including the staff secretary to attend the meeting.
